Windsor CARES Soup & Salad LunchSoup & Salad Fundraiser Breaks Records
By Lisa Boccia
Windsor C.A.R.E.S. (Citizens Assisting Residents Everywhere by Sharing) is a local volunteer group that raises funds to be used for projects to benefit various groups in Town. The group was started back in 1999 by former Windsor Social Services Case Worker, Andrea Cofrancesco, and has been growing ever since.
C.A.R.E.S. usually holds two fundraisers a year, but this year, the October storm wiped out the Annual Pancake Breakfast with the Mayor, leaving us only with the February Soup & Salad lunch.
Fortunately, members of the Community came out in record numbers, and approximately 150 lunches were served, including 30 "To Go". Town Hall and Windsor Federal Savings Bank employees placed their orders well in advance of the event, and C.A.R.E.S. member Ann Walsh made the deliveries.
This was the seventh year for the Soup & Salad event. The record-breaking profit of over $1200 almost made up for what the proceeds of the Pancake Breakfast would have been!
Windsor C.A.R.E.S. members thank everyone in the Community who helped to make this event such a great success! Anyone interested in finding out how to join the group or to provide support for our great work, can contact Andy Price at (860) 285-1839.
